Skin Cancer Prevention

Prevention is the best method of avoiding undesired consequences. Following these precautions does not guarantee you will not get skin cancer but will significantly reduce your chances of developing it.

Every day use broad spectrum SPF 30+ or higher sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays. For water activities use water resistant sunscreen. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside. Do not forget to reapply according to manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Stay out of sun between 10am and 4pm whenever possible
  • Cover up your skin exposed to sunlight with good clothing
  • Use UV blocking sunglasses
  • Wear a hat with broad brims
  • Don’t get sunburnt
  • Never use tanning beds or sunlamps and avoid tanning as much as possible
  • Self-check your skin regularly

Please remember, it is very important that all moles should be thoroughly and regularly examined by a qualified medical practitioner.
